5 Reasons to Live South of Fifth

Reason #1: Close proximity to the beach- One of the best reasons to live on Miami Beach is the easy access you have to the ocean and beach. This is especially true in SoFi, the enclave South of Fifth Street, where the beach is just a few blocks away from any given point in the neighborhood. You can take your own beach chair and towel, layback and relax on the smooth white sand or you can check in at Nikki Beach and get pampered on daybeds with some lunch and drinks in their private beach club. Either way, you can soak up lots of rays, frolic in the ocean waves, clear your mind and unwind. Being so close to this seashore paradise is surely luxury at its finest!

Reason #2: Enjoy South Pointe Park- This 17-acre urban park truly has it all: everything from an ocean-themed children’s playground to a leashless dog park to a scenic bike & jog path along the Biscayne Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. At all hours of the day, you will see people exercising, fishing, reading, or having a delicious bayside meal at Smith & Wollensky. There are even free yoga classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6pm! Whether you like to workout outdoors, picnic on the lawn, or have a pet dog, South Pointe Park is a true oasis. Having such a beautiful waterside park within a metropolitan city makes the experience of living in the SoFi neighborhood considerably better for individuals and families alike!

Reason #3: Eat at incredible restaurants- Arguably some of the best restaurants in the city are located South of Fifth and could be just a few steps from your home. Joe’s Stone Crab, the iconic restaurant that opened over 100 years ago, continues to serve delectable stone crabs to celebrities, politicians, and noteworthy businessmen from all over the world. Other delicious high-end eateries include Prime 112, an excellent steakhouse; Il Mulino, a mouthwatering Italian restaurant; and Milos, an outstanding Greek spot. The newest additions to the neighborhood, Bakehouse, a decadent French brasserie, and Upland Miami, featuring Cali-Italian cuisine, are also quickly becoming local favorites. Yet, although there are plenty of great upscale restaurants, there are also several fast-casual alternatives. Pura Vida, Lilikoi Organic Living, My Ceviche, and Dirt are all healthy and tasty options for a meal on the go or delivery. No matter what your preference is in food, you’ll find it all in SoFi!

Reason #4: Walk to lively bars- Aside from having great restaurants, South of Fifth residents also have the luxury of being able to walk to various fun and energetic bars. Enjoy seasonal craft cocktails and dance to eclectic tunes at Radio Bar or watch your favorite sports team while overlooking the bay at Monty’s. If you’re looking for a perfect date spot, head to The Room- a dark, candlelit and intimate bar with an extensive craft beer list and entertaining board games. Last but not least, there’s South Pointe Tavern, serving artisanal cocktails and rustic small plates just a few blocks from the beach. Not only are there a variety of vibrant bars to choose from, you can simply walk back home once you leave!

Reason #5: Take in spectacular water views- Studded along the SoFi waterfront, there are several luxury condos with genuinely spectacular views. To the west, you see Biscayne Bay with the Miami skyline in the horizon, Fisher Island, the port of Miami, and the posh Hibiscus and Palm Islands. With this view, you can also enjoy the majestic sunset every single evening! To the east, you have the extraordinary panorama of the vast turquoise ocean and sprawling beach. From this perspective, you can wake up with the sunrise every morning and get plenty of sunlight throughout the day. Regardless of the view you choose, you will feel the bliss and serenity that living on the water provides those who indulge in the true island lifestyle!
