The beautiful spring months have just arrived and that means it’s time to freshen up you home and bring some new life into it! Below are five wonderful ideas to help guide you on how to transition your home’s décor and embrace the wonderful new spring energy!

Idea #1: Experiment with color- Spring symbolizes new life, and after the somber winter months, color finally starts reappearing everywhere. While South Florida is fortunate enough to have warm weather year round and the colors of nature are much more constant than in the rest of the country, it’s still a lot of fun to play into the seasons’ themes.

This season is all about pastel color schemes, bright colors, and clean whites. Think light shades of yellow, green, blue, violet, and pink or bright tones of fuchsia, turquoise, and orange. Be sure not to forget the invaluable power of crisp white, a reflection of a thorough spring-cleaning, that can be both glossy and soft at the same time. It’s also the perfect complement to all of the other shades of spring, seamlessly tying everything together!

Idea #2: Display fresh flowers and plants- Nothing says spring more than beautiful blossoms, verdant plants, and even subtle succulents. Certain flowers are iconic of the springtime and many of them can only be found during this growing season. Therefore, indulge in tulips, camellias, daffodils, lilacs, peonies, and the various other spring blossoms. This is the time of year to crazy with fresh flowers and houseplants so don’t hold back!

If you live in a house with a garden, you can even plant some seasonal flowerbeds that will last for a couple of months and sometimes even years, depending on the variety. Unfortunately, many of the spring flowers won’t flourish in South Florida because it’s not cold enough, but there are plenty of options that do.

Idea #3: Try new fabric patters and palettes- If your couches, duvet covers, curtains, or pillows are a bit outdated, this is the perfect time to replace them with fresh new ones. Couches and chairs can be reupholstered with fabulous flower patters, checkers, stripes, foliage, or anything else that reminds you of spring.

If you prefer solids over patterns, don’t worry, there are plenty of spring trends to tap into. Choose between soft tones, richer ones, and even incorporate some neutrals that will go with anything. The key is to choose a palette that brings happiness and tranquility into your home!

Idea #4: Liven up your artwork- Ever think that your walls are a tad drab or somewhat plain? Art can really add depth to your décor and can make a room look extra special. Oil paint, watercolors, and even printed depictions of flowers, plants, animals, and so forth can make your home unique and joyous year-round, while maintaining the spring theme of the season.

If you already have lovely works of art but aren’t entirely satisfied with them, consider changing the frame. Framing can either make or break a nice art, adding complexity yet letting the art shine on it own, or it can dumb down the piece and take away from it’s beauty. If you aren’t quite sure, take it in to be seen by a professional who will give you their honest opinion!
