#1: Have a picnic at the beach- If you or your valentine enjoy spending time outdoors, there’s no better time of the year to do so than now. With temperatures in the mid 70s, it truly is the perfect weather to have a picnic. Prepare a basket with a couple of picnic essentials including a blanket/beach towel, a bottle of champagne or wine, some cheese, bread, grapes, or any snacks that both of you like, some water, and a decadent dessert. Don’t forget to bring disposable glasses, small plates, utensils, napkins, and a wine opener!
Idea #2: Watch the sunset at South Pointe Park- Few things are more romantic in life than watching the sunset at a park with your loved one. Snuggle up together on a blanket and share a glass of celebratory champagne. Be sure to get there well before the sun sets so you get to appreciate every minute of the spectacular natural phenomenon. Hold your sweetheart tight as the sun starts disappearing!
Idea #3: Have dinner at a nice restaurant- Although it's a fairly common Valentine’s Day activity, there’s good reason behind it. Enjoying a delightful meal prepared by master chefs is a wonderful experience. Pair it with a glass of fine wine and you will undoubtedly have a great time. Just remember to make reservations with lots of anticipation, as many people will be dining out on this special occasion.
Idea #4: Take a romantic stroll together- After you’ve finished your lovely meal, consider going on a romantic walk. Great options include along the beachfront boardwalk or through the beautiful South Pointe Park and Pier. Not only will you love strolling down these scenic routes hand-in-hand with your valentine, but it will also aid in digesting your dinner!
Idea #5: Cook a scrumptious dinner at home- For those that prefer a more intimate dinner experience, preparing a home-cooked meal is a great alternative to going out to a restaurant. You can either surprise your valentine with a tasty candlelit meal, or you can have a lot of fun cooking together. Play some romantic music, set a nice table, and eat delicious food as you fondly stare into each other’s eyes.
Idea #6: Watch a romantic movie in the theaters- If you prefer to skip the fancy dinner and would rather do something a little more laid back, head over to the movie theaters. There are lots of movies to watch right now, including the critically acclaimed La La Land, the sexy Fifty Shades Darker, and the remarkable love story of A United Kingdom. Share some popcorn, have a soda, and indulge in some candy. Regardless of what film is playing on the big screen, chances are you will be starting at your valentine most of the time anyway.
Idea #7: Go on a kayak and paddleboard tour- Want to do something much more exciting and unique? There’s nothing more riveting and romantic than taking a kayak or paddleboard tour under the full moon and the stars above. The Virginia Key Outdoor Center is hosting its monthly event on Valentine’s Day and is offering a special dinner and bon fire add on. Don’t forget to bring a light as the law on all night tours requires them, and they are the only things you cannot rent at the center. Paddling under the full moon and seeing the Magic City in the distance will surely leave you both flabbergasted!
